THE COMPASS

Most leaders think the hardest part of conflict is the conversation.
The real challenge is choosing the direction you lead from.

One of my favorite tools in The Relationable Toolkit is called The Compass. It reveals the three paths we choose in moments of tension: consideration, calculation, or manipulation. Each one feels small in the moment, but over time it shapes the culture around us.

Here are the core insights from today’s video:

Manipulation creates win-lose outcomes. Someone must lose for you to win.
Calculation is transactional. You win, but you are indifferent to the other person’s outcome.
Consideration is true north. It is win-win. You measure success by the growth of both sides.

Entrepreneurs face these choices every day. How we negotiate, give feedback, repair conflict, or manage tough decisions always reveals the direction of our compass. The question is simple: are we leading from ego or from leadership?

Before your next hard conversation, check your bearings. The direction you choose will define the trust you build.

If you plan events and want a keynote that helps leaders communicate with clarity, emotional intelligence, and intention, I would love to connect.
