ALPHAS

The Truth About Alphas, Betas, and Why Real Leaders Never Announce Themselves

Every entrepreneur knows the moment. You are in a room, the energy is flowing, and someone walks in and proudly declares, “I’m an alpha.” The air shifts. The vibe changes. Most people quietly cringe.

That single sentence reveals a deeper truth about leadership. Real leaders do not need to self declare. Presence is earned by how people respond to you, not by what you call yourself.

In today’s video I share a simple lens that helps entrepreneurs, founders, and event planners understand the difference between genuine leadership dynamics and the performance of dominance.

1. Your status changes by the room you are in

Even the strongest leaders find themselves both alpha and beta depending on the environment. A seasoned CEO might run the table in a strategy meeting, then defer to someone else’s expertise in a different room. This is not weakness. It is emotional intelligence.

2. Calling yourself an alpha never lands the way you think it will

Self assigning dominance signals insecurity, not strength. People instinctively trust what they feel from you, not what you announce.

3. There is a difference between real relational dynamics and role play

In the video I make an important distinction. Doms and subs belong to role play. Alphas and betas belong to real life. Confusing the two creates distorted leadership behavior that damages culture.

4. Accept the compliment, do not assign it to yourself

If someone calls you an alpha, the most grounded response is simple. “Thank you. That is kind.” No theatrics. No posturing. Just presence.

This small shift protects your influence and reinforces your credibility in every room you enter.

If you want your teams, events, or leaders to communicate with confidence and clarity, let us talk about bringing this work into your organization.
